Aldershot Town will face a stern test on Saturday as United's new signing Wheeldon could feature for the visitors. The 20-year-old has put pen-to-paper on an initial one-year contract, with a second year option, after leaving Pride Park earlier in the summer. Wheeldon spent a brief loan spell with the Pilgrims in the winter of 2024 and subsequently joined National League North side South Shields on loan last season - helping the Mariners reach the promotion final in the process. He made his Championship and League Cup debuts for Derby following his first spell with the Pilgrims. The Nottingham-born attacker has appeared in four of United's pre-season friendlies - as Trialist D - and scored the equaliser against Alfreton Town on July 14.
