Aldershot Town prepare for a key National League home fixture against Carlisle this Saturday. The Shots will be aiming to return to winning ways after a 2-1 defeat at AFC Hornchurch on Tuesday, where they conceded the decisive goal in the 89th minute.
Sitting seventh in the table with 18 points from 11 games, their recent form has been inconsistent. They have recorded two wins, one draw, and two losses in their last five outings. The heavy 5-1 victory over Tamworth last weekend was followed by the narrow loss at Hornchurch, where Hakeem Sandah scored a first-half equaliser. The team has shown a tendency to score late, with 5 of their 18 league goals this season coming in the final 15 minutes of matches.
Carlisle arrive at the EBB Stadium in 16th place, also with a mixed set of recent results. They beat AFC Fylde 2-0 last time out but suffered heavy defeats to Woking and Eastleigh in the preceding weeks. Their away form has been particularly poor, with just one win on the road so far this campaign.
Tommy Widdrington's side will be looking to their attacking players, including Sandah and Mo Dabre, to rediscover the form that saw them score five against Tamworth. The manager has a near full squad to choose from, with only long term absentee Jack Powell definitely out.
The match kicks off at 3pm on Saturday, 3 October, at the EBB Stadium. A win could see Aldershot Town consolidate their position in the playoff places ahead of a busy October schedule detailed on our fixtures list. Their next fixture after this is a trip to face third placed Southend United on Tuesday, 7 October.
