Aldershot Town's manager Tommy Widdrington has resigned, the club announced on Tuesday morning. The 54-year-old had been in charge for two-and-a-half years, leading the Shots to 18th, eighth, and 16th place in successive seasons. Widdrington also delivered silverware, winning the FA Trophy last term by defeating Spennymoor Town at Wembley. But he now departs after 14 games of the National League campaign, with Aldershot having won three, drawn four, and lost seven games so far. The club's squad includes former Blues forward Tristan Abrahams, ex-Carlisle loan goalkeeper Marcus Dewhurst, and one-time United trialist striker Kwame Thomas. Aldershot are the seventh club to face a managerial change in the division this campaign, with Widdrington's departure coming soon after Hartlepool United sacked Simon Grayson. The Shots will be overseen by Hugo Langton and Alan Dowson ahead of Saturday's game against Tamworth. Widdrington joined Aldershot in April 2023 after leaving King's Lynn Town. His resignation leaves the club in 19th position in the National League. The club will be making no further comment at this stage.
