Aldershot Town has been honoured with a special new train ahead of kicking off the defence of their Isuzu FA Trophy triumph next month. The new South Western Railway Arterio train has been dubbed the ‘Phoenix’ to mark the National League club's historic victory at Wembley, a nod to their emblem after they beat Spennymoor Town 3-0 in the final. Shots chairman Shahid Azeem led the unveiling, joined by players Dejan Tatek, Olly Scott, and Hady Ghandour, all of whom were in the squad for the showpiece in May. The train's introduction is a significant upgrade for fans travelling to Aldershot station, providing improved comfort, Wi-Fi, and charging points at every seat. Aldershot Town's title defence begins with a clash against Eastleigh in the third round next month. The club's fans will be hoping to see a repeat of their team's impressive performance at Wembley, where they lifted the prestigious non-league prize. The ‘Phoenix’ train is a result of the strong partnership between Aldershot Town and South Western Railway, who provided additional services to help fans get to the FA Trophy final. Peter Williams at South Western Railway praised the railway's role in connecting people to the places that matter to them, making unforgettable memories possible for customers. The introduction of the new Arterio trains to the Farnham route, serving Aldershot and other stations for the first time, is another major milestone in their rollout. Customers have been impressed with the increased capacity and comfort the Arterios bring. The ‘Phoenix’ train will connect even more fans to Aldershot Town, bringing the community together to enjoy matches across the network. The club's fans are eagerly anticipating the start of their title defence, and the new train is a welcome addition to their journey. With the ‘Phoenix’ train now in service, Aldershot Town fans can look forward to a more comfortable and convenient travel experience. The train's naming ceremony was attended by club legend Terry Brown, first team goalkeeper coach David Smalley, and David Josey, a life-long Aldershot fan and formerly SWR’s Station Manager for Aldershot. The ‘Phoenix’ mascot was also in attendance, helping to welcome the new train to the network.
