Aldershot Town were held to a 1-1 draw by Yeovil Town at the EBB Stadium on Tuesday. The result ended a five-match unbeaten run for Billy Rowley's side, who sit seventh in the National League with 15 points from eight games.
Slavi Spasov gave the visitors the lead in the 12th minute, finishing a chance rated at 0.78 expected goals. The game turned just before the half-hour mark when Yeovil defender Loick Ayina was sent off, forcing his team to play more than an hour with ten men.
Aldershot pressed for an equaliser and found it in the 66th minute through defender Michee Efete, who was set up by Andrea Tenconi. The Shots created several late opportunities, with Luke McCormick missing a big chance worth 0.73 xG after the Yeovil goalkeeper spilled a free-kick in the 73rd minute.
Statistical battle
Despite having a man advantage for most of the match, Aldershot only edged possession with 56 percent. Both teams had 12 shots, though Yeovil put six on target to Aldershot's four. The visitors also posted a higher expected goals figure of 2.03 compared to Aldershot's 1.69, underlining their efficiency and Aldershot's struggle to convert dominance into clear chances.
Yeovil's defensive effort was notable, with midfielder Brett McGavin winning 18 of his 32 duels and goalkeeper Jos Barker making three reflex saves. Aldershot's passing accuracy was 75 percent, just one point below their opponents'.
Billy Rowley, the Aldershot manager, will be frustrated his side could not capitalise on the extra man. The draw extends their recent form to two wins, two draws and one loss from the last five outings. They remain five points behind league leaders Boreham Wood.
